Johnson Controls and Sustainability

Our sustainability focus extends to our supply partners.

We work with more than 100,000 direct and indirect suppliers throughout the world and expect them to conduct their operations in an environmentally and socially sustainable manner.

We use a variety of tools to assess suppliers, including background checks, self-assessment surveys, site visits and audits.

Developed in partnership with key customers, socially responsible investment funds and non-government organizations, our company-wide supply chain standard provides guidance to our procurement teams on the environmental and social performance of suppliers.

This guidance includes details on labor, discrimination, freedom of association, health and safety, the environment, management systems and ethics.

Johnson Controls is a member of the Carbon Disclosure Project's Corporate Supply Chain Program, which is comprised of organizations dedicated to manage and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within their supply chain.
